Does IVF involve donor gametes only?

MYTH: IVF involves donor gametes only
FACT: IVF is usually done with the wife's eggs and the husband's sperms. There are chances that even women with low ovarian reserve may conceive with their own eggs.
Donor gametes are advised only in selective situations, like very advanced maternal age, premature ovarian failure, menopausal women, or where no sperm is found in the husband even after surgical retrieval.
It is very important for the clinic to get proper consents and give adequate counselling for using donor gametes.
